Hello, I’m Elizabeth Harrin, from the blog, A Girl’s Guide to Project Management, and over the past 3 videos I’ve been sharing insights to help you grow as a project manager and get your work done with more confidence and less stress.
In this video I’m going to share everything you need to know about Project Management Rebels and how it can help you show up to work more prepared and better equipped to deal with all the random things the day throws at you.
I created this program because I know first
hand what it’s like to have a mentor to guide you through the difficult
situations at work. When I was first starting out as a project manager, before
I even had the job title, and was just a graduate trainee, I had a mentor
called Jo. I don’t think she knew she was my mentor. She was my inspiration,
and I asked her a lot of questions. She was very generous with her time.
In my first ‘proper’ PM job I had a mentor
called Alison. She did know she was my mentor. It was a more formal relationship
but we basically just had coffee and hung out in the staff lounge and chatted
about work.
Later, I mentored a new starter in the
business, Marina. She had pink hair, and I remember chatting to someone, and
that person saying they couldn’t take her seriously because of her hair colour.
I was affronted on her behalf. But we talked about it. I passed that on to her,
so she could take that feedback on board and decide what she wanted to do with
it. I think that was the moment I realised that I could help people make
choices with honesty, transparency, bravery.
What’s important to me is doing the right
thing, even if it’s an awkward conversation, and telling someone their hair is
the wrong colour for career success is pretty trivial but I still found it
awkward. The other thing that’s important to me is not adhering rigorously to
the rules when the rules are stupid. And who cares about the colour of your
hair if you are a brilliant project manager – and she was – she was excellent
at her job.
I stand up against rigorously following the
crowd when they are wrong. When the process says do this, and you know it’s not
going to work. We need to tailor our working practices, our behaviour, our
opinions even, to do things the right way, the way that’s fair, that’s going to
work.
And having the right skills and a decent
dose of confidence, is what’s going to help you get noticed for all the right
reasons, and not because your hair makes you stand out.
Imagine how it will feel to go into
meetings and hold the floor without being flustered, and get everyone to the
end result that you wanted for that meeting. Imagine having the know how to
handle conflict gracefully, or to get heard by senior management. Imaging being
connected to others who are on the same journey to you… all committed to
achieving a low stress, high confidence situation for themselves so they can
lead their projects strategically and make an impact in their organisations.
So if you’re a project manager but you don’t feel like you have a seat at the table, or you’re not showing up to work radiating true confidence in your abilities, or you just aren’t sure where to get started with building your skillset so you feel like you know what you’re doing at work, then Project Management Rebels can help.
So what exactly is Project Management Rebels?
PM Rebels is a teaching-led group mentoring programme. It’s a monthly membership community and e-learning platform with dozens of training videos at your fingertips from Day 1.
It’s aimed at project managers who don’t
work in a textbook world.
Inside the Membership Site
Inside the membership site are dozens of videos already, aligned to topics on the PMP exam content outline (and other professional body schemes because they all have similarities with topics).
Each
month you get:
- A new training video
- A member question answered in a virtual coaching video (maybe it
will be your question!) - Monthly office hours to drop in and ask me anything
And
there are regular other exclusive things like downloadable resources.
AND…
if that wasn’t enough! Members also get free access to my public workshops.
We’re a community. We help each other get
better at the things we need to know how to do – the skills part. And we help
each other get more confident with the sticky, difficult, messy parts of
project management too – the people stuff.
PM Rebels is designed to help support and
empower project managers because like anything, your skills become more
powerful as you understand how to use them.
You should also know that PM Rebels comes with a 100% money back guarantee. I want you to feel confident in your decision and that’s why I invite you to give it a whirl for a month, risk free. If you come and join us, and it’s not for you, ask for a refund within the first 30 days. No problem.
Of course, at this point you probably only
have one big question left – what does it cost?
The investment for Project Management Rebels is less than a dollar a day. It’s $27 a month.
It’s amazing value for access to learning
resources when you need them, live support from me on a regular basis and the
confidence of knowing that you’re part of a supportive community of project
delivery professionals, just like you
$27 a month is the cost of a fancy coffee and
a muffin a week in London, but PM Rebels has fewer calories and more career
benefits!
The registration period will be closing
soon. We do this so we can better cater to all the new members coming into the
community. Once the registration period is complete, I can make myself
available to support you.
As you look to make a decision about
whether Project Management Rebels might be the right group for you, just know
this.
If you are feeling overwhelmed with all the
things you’re supposed to be doing at work, and you’re struggling with whether
you’re doing them right or to a good enough level, then it’s OK. It’s normal.
Work is an ongoing competition for your
time and attention, and in my experience it’s a competition that you rarely
win. It doesn’t have to be that way.
Join me and our community and come and be a Project Management Rebel with us. Click the button on this page, and I can’t wait to help you grow your skills, grow your confidence, improve your business acumen and lead your projects to success. I’ll see you inside!
